A 75‑year‑old West Plains man was seriously injured Friday night when a fire truck overturned on Highway 17.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened at 9 p.m. on May 29, about three miles south of West Plains. Troopers say the southbound 1980 Chevrolet fire truck ran off the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. The driver was not wearing a safety device.

He was transported by Southern Howell County EMS to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains for treatment of serious injuries.
The vehicle was totaled and was towed from the scene by Hughes Towing of West Plains at the trooper’s request. Highway 17 was closed for a period of time while crews worked the crash.
