Mrs. Judd passed away June 7, 2026, at Pleasant Valley Manor, with her daughter by her side.

She was born November 24, 1930, in West Plains, Missouri into the family of Bert and Irene (Fike) Montgomery, the youngest of ten children. On October 4, 1949, she was married to Melvin Judd; to this union was born Danny and Brenda. Mable was of the Pentecostal faith, attending Junction Hill Pentecostal Church. She was always one to help in any capacity, whether gathering green beans for someone’s supper, making jellies for anyone that wanted any, baking a pie for a visiting preacher, or helping in the kitchen at Junction Hill with peanut brittle, she adored being useful to others. Mable was a Sunday School teacher for more than 40 years, many of those years were at Junction Hill Pentecostal Church. She taught several generations of families in her tiny classrooms. Mable believed in the power of prayer. Many times at home and church she would be a veritable warrior, praying for her family and her friends’ family, asking God’s protection and His grace and mercy to overflow in their lives. She was also a consummate baker – mainly pies of all sorts. Her most popular pie was black walnut. To her kids and grandkids, it was her almost famous “Cherries and Crust”, a deconstructed cherry pie. She captured many grimaces with her sour gooseberry pies. Mable worked for the International Shoe Company in West Plains for more than 30 years, working in a variety of departments while employed there. She enjoyed keeping an immaculate lawn, visiting with friends, her weekly visits to the nursing homes and her weekly grocery shopping trips. Mable loved to have her family over for birthday parties and get-togethers, hamburgers, tacos and sometimes a bowl of fried okra (which the grandkids fought over). Gracing the table would always be some expired condiments and she would faithfully set them out at each gathering, even after most everyone brought their own and it became a big family joke.

She is survived by one son, Danny Judd; one daughter, Brenda Howell and husband, Freddie; five grandchildren, Danna (Evan) Reed, Devin (Bridget) Judd, Dustin (Kendra) Judd, Brian Howell and Derek Howell; ten great-grandchildren, Judd, Jax, Ellington, Emersyn, Preston, Hudson, Bryson, Brooklyn, Montgomery and Rhyleah; and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, one grandson, Jeremy Howell, daughter-in-law, Sharon Judd, her siblings and their spouses, and several nieces and nephews, preceded her in death.
