Mona Kathyern Basinger, a beloved businesswoman and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at her home. Born on December 23, 1942, in Leachville, Arkansas, Mona’s journey through life was marked by her entrepreneurial spirit and deep devotion to her loved ones.

Throughout her career, Mona demonstrated remarkable determination and leadership, owning several businesses over the years. Her final venture, Eastside Package in West Plains, Missouri, stood as a testament to her dedication and hard work. She earned respect in her community not only for her business acumen but also for her kindness and generosity.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially in the companionship of her cherished chihuahuas, Hercules, Rocky, and Zoey, who brought her comfort and happiness.

Her family was at the heart of everything she did. Mona was surrounded by her loving family until the very end, a source of strength and solace. She is survived by her husband, Todd Jones, whose companionship was a treasured part of her life. Her children carry forward her legacy; son Rick Smith and his wife Jackie of Baldwinsville, New York; daughters Debbie Hall and her husband Jerry of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Veronica Spriggle and her husband Donnie of Robstown, Texas.

Mona’s life was enriched by her siblings, including brothers Jerry Basinger and his wife Donna of Fairgrove, Missouri; Roger McCord and Ervin McCord with his wife Debbie, both of West Plains, Missouri. Her many grandchildren, Ben Jacobs, Bryan Jacobs, Danny Cox, Casey Clark, Megan Riley, Patrick Smith, and Emily Smith and great-grandchildren, Austin, Jake, Jackson, Andrew, Abby, Sam, Aiden, Blain, JJ, and McKenna, will carry her memory with them always, a vibrant lineage touched by her love and guidance.

She is mourned in the company of her surviving family, while lovingly remembered alongside those who have passed before her; her parents, and her brothers Bill Basinger, Charles Basinger, and Don Basinger, as well as her sisters Sue Henry and Jan Gunter.

Mona’s legacy is one of strength, love, and commitment. Her life touched many, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her passing leaves a space that will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
