A 20‑year‑old Ava woman was injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash at the intersection of Highway 76 and Highway U, about five miles northeast of Ava.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 3:10 p.m. when the southbound driver of a 2013 Dodge Dart failed to stop at a stop sign on Highway U. The car crossed the intersection, continued onto Highway 76, went off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and came to rest.

The driver, who was not wearing a safety device, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Ava Ambulance to Cox South Hospital.
