The Royals avoided a three-game sweep with a 6-2 victory over the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. Carter Jensen was 4-for-4 with a solo home run while Michael Massey, John Rave and Lane Thomas also homered for Kansas City. Starting pitcher Luinder Avila earned his second win after tossing five-plus innings of one-run ball. The Royals snapped a two-game skid to improve to 30-and-45. They will host the St. Louis Cardinals tonight.
