Baxter Health Earns Magnet Redesignation, Reaffirming Its Commitment to Nursing Excellence

One of the Highest Honors in Nursing, Renewed Through a Rigorous Process That Few Health
Systems Achieve

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — Baxter Health has earned redesignation through the ANCC Magnet Recognition
Program®, one of the most prestigious honors in health care and the gold standard for nursing excellence.
Presented by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the designation reaffirms Baxter Health’s ongoing
commitment to the highest standards of nursing practice, patient care, and professional development.

Magnet recognition is not simply awarded. It is earned through a rigorous, evidence-based evaluation process
that examines an organization’s nursing leadership, clinical outcomes, professional practice environment, and
commitment to innovation and improvement. Fewer than ten percent of hospitals in the United States hold
Magnet status at any given time, and only five hospitals in Arkansas have earned the designation. It is a
meaningful distinction that patients and families can trust.

What made Baxter Health’s redesignation even more remarkable was the recognition of nine exemplars by the
Magnet appraisal team. Exemplars are not required for Magnet status. They are optional, highly specific
distinctions awarded when appraisers identify a concept, practice, or program so exceptional it is worthy of
imitation by other organizations. Receiving nine exemplars is not a common outcome. It reflects a level of
nursing practice that does not just meet the standard but sets it.

Research consistently demonstrates that Magnet recognition produces real benefits for patients and staff alike.
Patients at Magnet hospitals report higher satisfaction with nurse communication and availability. Studies show
lower rates of 30-day mortality and better outcomes when patients experience complications. Nurses at
Magnet organizations report higher job satisfaction and lower intentions to leave, which means greater
continuity of care for the patients who depend on them.

“Earning Magnet redesignation is a proud moment for every nurse, every care team member, and every leader
at Baxter Health,” Ron Peterson, President and CEO of Baxter Health, said. “This recognition reflects the skill,
dedication, and professionalism our nurses demonstrate every day for every patient, and it is also a
commitment to keep growing. We do not stand still. We will continue building the kind of environment where
excellent nurses want to practice and where patients receive the very best care available close to home.”
