Randel Butler, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on November 13, 1940, in West Plains, Missouri, Randel was the son of Bob and Pearl Butler. After high school, he graduated from Christian Brothers College before proudly serving his country in the United States Army at Fort Leonard Wood and later continued his service in the National Guard. Following his military service, he married the love of his life, Sharon in December of 1965.
Together Randel and Sharon built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, hard work, and love. In 1966, they opened Butler Furniture in Mountain Home, where they faithfully served the community for decades. Their business became more than a furniture store- it became a family legacy. After Randel and Sharon’s retirement, their sons proudly carried on the family business they helped build.
While Randel was a successful business man, those who knew him best will remember him for something even greater-his endless curiosity and love of adventure. He and Sharon cherished traveling together, exploring the world with trips to China, Australia, New Zealand, and many other destinations. They also enjoyed countless golf outings and treasured time spent with dear friends.
Yet some of his favorite adventures happened much closer to home. Family road trips often included an unexpected detour because Randel wanted to “take a circle” or travel down “just one more dirt road,” to see where it led. He believed there was always something worth discovering around the next bend.
Above everything else, Randel treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with Sharon, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He led not only with words but by example, demonstrating integrity, kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith throughout his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Butler; his brother Garry Butler (Donna); his children Randy Butler (Laureen); Lisa Watson (Ron); and Matt Butler (Amber); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Chadd Butler, and his beloved granddaughter Katie Butler.
Visitation will be held at Roller Funeral Home on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 11:00am-1:00pm with a Mass immediately following at St. Peters Fisherman Catholic Church at 2:00pm. A private family burial will follow.
