USMNT falls to Turkey on stoppage-time goal to close out World Cup group stage

The USMNT’s unbeaten World Cup run is snapped in dramatic fashion, falling 3–2 to Turkey on a 9th-minute stoppage-time winner in Inglewood.

The U.S. got off to a fast start with Auston Trusty scoring early, and Sebastian Berhalter leveling the match in the second half. But Turkey’s Kaan Ayhan delivered the late heartbreak to seal it at the death.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino rotated the lineup heavily ahead of the knockout stage, and while Christian Pulisicprovided a spark off the bench, defensive lapses proved costly.

The USMNT still advances and now turns to the Round of 32 against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
