This week, high temperatures will be a major topic of concern for residents of the listening area and a heat advisory has been issued as a result by the National Weather Service.
Consistently, Monday through Friday high heat index temperatures will reach or exceed 100 degrees. After a week of relatively mild temperatures, sharp fluctuations could put more at-risk individuals in danger. Individuals are suggested to check on neighbors during this period, especially those that live alone or without proper cooling measures.
For the temperatures expected this week, the human body will likely experience high stress after working in direct sunlight for 20 minutes. A 40-minute break is suggested for each 20 minutes spent working in direct sunlight.
