Vanzant man held without bond after alleged assault with baseball bat

VANZANT, Mo. — A Vanzant man is being held without bond following an alleged incident involving a baseball bat in eastern Douglas County.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Nelson responded June 25, 2026, to County Road 157 for a report of a male subject who had struck a vehicle with a baseball bat and was threatening a female with the bat.

Lt. Nelson and Missouri Department of Conservation Agent Mark Henry located the suspect, Wesley Sartor, 35, of Vanzant, at his residence. Sartor was taken into custody.

A warrant was issued for Sartor on charges of first degree assault, armed criminal action and third degree elder abuse. Due to Sartor’s prior criminal history, no bond was issued in the case.

Sheriff Chris Degase thanked Conservation Agent Henry for backing up Lt. Nelson on the call.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
