West Plains Fire and Rescue Urging Everyone to Celebrate Safely

West Plains Fire & Rescue is urging residents to celebrate safely this Independence Day and to keep 911 lines open for true emergencies. Officials shared several fireworks safety reminders, including keeping water nearby, supervising children, lighting one firework at a time, and soaking used fireworks before disposal. They also noted that pets should be kept indoors during fireworks displays.

Authorities say 911 should be used only for emergencies such as fires, serious injuries, or immediate threats to life or property. Noise complaints, distant fireworks, or questions about local ordinances should not be reported through 911.

The department also reminded residents that fireworks are prohibited within West Plains city limits unless a permitted display has been approved. They encourage the public to attend professional shows or celebrate responsibly outside restricted areas.

West Plains Fire & Rescue wishes everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July.
