The approved funding represents a significant investment in public safety and emergency
preparedness, strengthening weather monitoring capabilities throughout the region and providing
residents, emergency responders, schools, and local governments with more accurate and timely
weather information.

“Protecting the people of District 153 has been one of my highest priorities,” said Elliott, R
Doniphan. “With Governor Kehoe’s approval, we are moving forward with critical improvements
to our weather radar infrastructure that will help provide earlier warnings for severe weather and
better equip our communities to respond when dangerous conditions arise.”

The radar tower project is expected to improve severe weather detection and forecasting in
portions of southeast Missouri, where residents frequently experience tornadoes, damaging
winds, flash flooding, and other hazardous weather events.

Representative Elliott thanked Governor Kehoe for his support and recognized the collaborative
efforts of state and local officials who worked to advance the project.

“This investment demonstrates what can be accomplished when state and local leaders work
together to improve public safety,” Elliott said. “I appreciate Governor Kehoe’s partnership in
making this important project a reality for the families, businesses, and communities of District
153.”

Project implementation will begin in accordance with the approved funding timeline, with
additional details regarding construction schedules and project milestones to be announced as
they become available.
