MARION COUNTY, Ark. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office will participate in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Speeding Slows You Down” campaign from July 10 through July 31.
The campaign is designed to raise awareness about the dangers of speeding and remind drivers that speeding can change lives in an instant. According to NHTSA, speeding was a contributing factor in 29 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2024. The agency also emphasizes that speeding is not only an interstate issue, but a danger on all types of roads.
Speeding is illegal and puts drivers, passengers, loved ones and everyone else on the road at risk. Even with advancements in vehicle safety and passenger protection, vehicles cannot fully protect people from the dangers caused by excessive speed.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reminds drivers to slow down, obey posted speed limits and adjust their driving for weather, traffic and road conditions. Speed limits are in place to protect everyone using the roadway.
Drivers stopped for speeding may be issued a ticket, which could result in a fine.
“No destination is worth a life,” the sheriff’s office stated.
Motorists are encouraged to do their part to keep Marion County roads safe by slowing down and driving responsibly.
