Douglas County prosecutors have released new details on multiple felony sentencings following recent Circuit Law Days in both Douglas and Ozark counties.
During Douglas County Circuit Law Day on July 7, Judge Craig Carter handed down several sentences:
- Shane L. Worthey, 45, Thornfield — sentenced to 11 years in prison for the class C felony of Stealing $25,000 or More as a prior and persistent felony offender. The offense occurred in February 2025 and was investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
- Steven D. Browning, 49, Sparta — received a 10‑year sentence for 2nd Degree Assault – Special Victim, but the court suspended the sentence and placed him on 5 years of supervised probation under a plea agreement. The offense occurred in April 2025.
- Nicholas D. Nguyen, 38, Ava — sentenced to 7 years in prison for Stealing $750 or More as a prior and persistent felony offender, and another 7 years for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both sentences were suspended, and Nguyen was placed on 5 years of supervised probation. He was also ordered to pay $8,783.51 in restitution.
- Ethan D. Shannon, 33, Birch Tree — received two 5‑year prison sentences for 1st Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and 2nd Degree Domestic Assault, both as a prior offender. The court suspended both sentences and placed him on 5 years of supervised probation.
A separate docket summary released from Douglas County detailed additional actions:
- Taylor N. Tate, 22, Mountain View — admitted to violating probation and was sentenced to 5 years in prison, which the court suspended, placing her on 5 years of supervised probation.
- Debra K. Ragan, 55, Rogersville — pleaded guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance and received a suspended imposition of sentence with 5 years of supervised probation.
- Lloyd E. Yost, 56, Ava — had probation revoked on a 2023 drug case; sentencing is set for September 8, 2026.
- Kristi L. Overton, 48, Mansfield — ordered to serve 3 days shock incarceration after a bond revocation hearing.
The docket included 95 criminal cases, with six felony guilty pleas, multiple probation actions, and several hearings set for future dates.
In Ozark County Circuit Law Day on July 8, also presided over by Judge Carter:
- Misty J. Brotherton, 46, Protem — sentenced to 10 years in prison for Stealing $25,000 or More and 5 years for Possession of a Controlled Substance, both as a prior felony offender. The court suspended both sentences, placed her on 5 years of supervised probation, and ordered $87,750 in restitution.
One failure‑to‑appear warrant was issued, and two cases were continued.
