Team USA may have been knocked out of the World Cup by Belgium, but Americans were definitely watching.
Monday night’s Round of 16 match drew 33.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched soccer game ever on U.S. television. At its peak, more than 41 million people were tuned in.
Those are NFL-sized numbers. In fact, it was the most-watched TV program of any kind since this year’s Super Bowl, and the biggest non-football broadcast in nearly a decade.
Even with the U.S. losing 4-1, the World Cup continues to be a huge ratings winner, with Round of 16 viewership up more than 200% compared to the 2022 tournament.
