Eight arrested in Izard County last week

MELBOURNE, Ark. — Eight people were incarcerated in Izard County last week on charges ranging from driving while intoxicated to drug and firearm offenses, according to Izard County Sheriff Charley Melton.

Paul Short, 45, of Brockwell, was arrested July 6 on charges of failure to wear a seat belt, unlawful transportation of medical marijuana and driving while intoxicated.

Daniel Smith, 19, of Blytheville, was arrested July 9 on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

Derin Dusch, 21, of Bald Knob, was arrested July 10 on charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated.

Charles Watkins, 27, of Bald Knob, was arrested July 10 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Watkins also had an outstanding Baxter County warrant for failure to appear on traffic violations.

Robert Ferrari, 37, of Franklin, was arrested July 11 on a charge of first degree terroristic threatening.

Holley Hawk, 31, of Franklin, was arrested July 11 on a charge of third degree domestic battery.

Kelly Smoot, 70, of Melbourne, was arrested July 12 on charges of reckless driving, failure to wear a seat belt, having an open container of alcohol and driving while intoxicated.

Elijah Bellrose, 19, of Horseshoe Bend, was arrested July 12 on charges of speeding, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while intoxicated.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
