A 14‑year‑old Hartshorn boy was moderately injured Monday after a westbound Ford Escape struck a homemade buggy on Second Street near Cherry Street in the Summersville city limits.
The Highway Patrol says the SUV attempted to pass the buggy and hit its front end while returning to the lane. The juvenile occupant was taken by ambulance to Mercy St. Francis in Mountain View. The 86‑year‑old Summersville driver of the Escape and the 43-year-old buggy driver were not hurt.
