Federal changes affecting public assistance programs will begin taking effect over the next several months. The Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) encourages Missourians to stay informed by relying on official DSS communications and visiting the department’s H.R.1 website for accurate, up-to-date information.
The federal H.R.1 legislation includes changes to eligibility requirements, verification processes, and other program requirements that will be implemented on varying timelines. As additional federal guidance and implementation decisions are finalized, DSS will continue to update its H.R.1 website with timelines, resources, and information about upcoming changes.
“DSS has been working since H.R.1 passed to understand the federal requirements, assess program impacts, and prepare systems, staff, and citizens for the changes ahead,” said Director Mandi Adams, Family Support Division. “As implementation continues, our priority is to provide clear information directly from DSS and keep citizens at the center of this work. That means making information easier to find, supporting our team members, improving accuracy, and providing one official source of truth. DSS is putting the right tools, processes, and supports in place to better serve Missourians and help ensure eligible citizens can access the benefits and services they need.”
DSS will directly notify affected individuals of the upcoming changes and provide information about any required actions. In the meantime, participants should continue reviewing official notices, responding to requests for information, reporting changes, and completing renewals.
Participants, providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders are encouraged to visit mydss.mo.gov/hr1 for the latest information as implementation continues.
