Salem, MO. – As scams become more and more common both locally and nationally, residents should remain vigilant to avoid having their money or indentities stolen. Added to the growing list of scams is a new one being reported out of Salem, Missouri.
The City of Salem announced on Friday that residents were receiving e-mails that claimed to be from the mayor with an attachment labeled “Annual Special Report – City of Salem 2026”.

The City would like to stress to the public that this is not an official communication from the City, and that anyone who receives such a fraudulent e-mail should not open any attachment.
