Larry D. Morrison, age 40, was sentenced in United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri to serve 210 months (17.5 years) in the Federal Bureau of Prisons for the Receipt and Distribution of child pornography.
In February 2024, the Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force responded to a Cyber Tip Report (CTR) from the Nat’l Center of Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) after Dropbox, Inc. had observed files depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on their servers. Investigators linked the DropBox, Inc. account to Morrison at his residence in Ava, Douglas County, MO.
May 2024, a search warrant was served at Morrison’s residence and several items capable of storing digital evidence were seized as evidence. These items were later observed to contain files depicting CSAM as well. In a post-Miranda interview, Morrison denied that he possessed the CSAM files and provided account details linking him to the DropBox, Inc. account.
Morrison was previously a person of interest in a similar type of investigation in February 2020 because of a NCMEC CTR as reported by KIK messaging application. The case agent of the investigation was unable to determine Morrison’s location, and the investigation was closed. Account details from the 2024 investigation linked Morrison to the 2020 investigation.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ami Miller. It was investigated by the Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, Ava (MO) Police Department, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
