An Arkansas high school football player got the scare of a lifetime after unknowingly practicing for more than an hour with a two-foot venomous cottonmouth snake hiding inside his helmet.
The Maumelle High School player kept telling coaches his helmet felt uncomfortable, and when they checked it, they found the snake coiled inside the padding.

Animal control safely removed and relocated the snake, and amazingly, neither the player nor the snake was hurt.
Cottonmouth bites can be serious, causing severe pain and tissue damage, but fatalities are rare with prompt medical treatment.
