DOUGLAS COUNTY, Mo. — A 23-year-old Squires man was arrested Aug. 13 after Douglas County deputies said he attempted to arrange a meeting with a female under the age of 17 for sexual contact.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. James Nelson and Sgt. Box received information that Landon Wiese was allegedly texting the underage female and attempting to entice her to meet with him.

Investigators arranged for Wiese to arrive at a predetermined location, where authorities allege he believed he would meet the female for sexual intercourse. Instead, Wiese was met by deputies and taken into custody.

A warrant was later issued charging Wiese with enticement or attempted enticement of a child, an unclassified felony.

His bond was initially set at $5,000 cash only. The Sheriff’s Office said the bond was later amended to no bond after additional information was received.

Sheriff Chris Degase thanked the Ava Police Department for assisting deputies with surveillance during the investigation.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
