Funeral Services for Freddie Lee Ellis, Age 68 of Heart, Arkansas, will be held on Sunday, August 30th, 2026 at The Barker Funeral Home, Salem, Arkansas, beginning at 2:00 PM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
Freddie Lee Ellis, age 68, of Heart, Arkansas, passed away on August 21, 2026.
Freddie was a cowboy at heart. From his younger days of bronc and bull riding to the many years he spent tending to his horses and cattle, the outdoors was where he felt most at home. His love for the land and the animals never faded. There was no better way to spend a day than climbing into his pickup, heading out across the farm, and making his rounds to check on his cows and horses. It was a life he loved, and one that suited him well.
One of Freddie’s favorite times of the year was the Fourth of July. During that week, you could usually find him down on the banks of the Southfork River, surrounded by family and friends. Those days of good company, laughter, the river, and the simple pleasures of being together were some of the happiest memories.
Freddie was a graduate of Salem High School and attended Arkansas State University. He was of Baptist faith. Throughout his working life, he held many different jobs, including working for Fulton County Road Department, owned and operated a lime and fertilizer truck, delivering newspapers, and working for U.S. Express Mail. No matter the job, Freddie was known for showing up, doing his part, and giving an honest day’s work. His strong work ethic was simply part of who he was.
Those who knew Freddie will remember his easy smile, his quiet kindness, and his genuine friendship. He never needed to make a lot of noise to make an impression. Like a good cowboy, he was a man of few words but a man you could count on. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and the love of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory include Pam, Jeb, Joe, and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylon Ellis and Fern (Gill) Ellis; his sister, Gail Hall; his paternal grandparents, Fred and Della Ellis; and his maternal grandparents, Wes and Victoria Gill.
