Van Buren, MO. – This month, Carter County Sheriff Alonzo Bradwell announced that they are continuing their fundraisers going towards a scholarship towards local students interested in careers in law enforcement.
Last year, through the success of this program, two students in Carter County each received a $5,000 scholarship to go towards their studies, and received internships with the Sheriff’s Office over the summer. Other students who applied but did not receive the scholarships also received offers of internships, with one intern acquiring a job in dispatch.
Starting yesterday the next round of fundraisers towards the scholarship began. It started with a “Jail & Bail” program where individuals can donate money to “jail” someone they know in good humor for a small amount of time, with participation only taking place with the participants consent.
