The Lincoln School Project will host a special book launch, discussion, and signing with historian Dr. Gary Kremer on October 3, celebrating the release of Missouri’s Black Heritage, Third Edition.
The event will take place inside the very classroom featured on the book’s cover — a 1953 photograph that connects directly to the school’s legacy. Organizers Crockett and Tonya Oaks say the setting makes this launch especially meaningful, as it will take place in the very classroom that the photo for the book originates from. They are encouraging the community to “come out, show some love, and learn together.”
The program runs from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Lincoln School, 1400 Pony Thomas Street in West Plains. Books will be available for purchase and signing on-site as part of the school’s ongoing Centennial Celebration.
