Two West Plains men were airlifted to Springfield hospitals Thursday morning after a violent two‑vehicle crash on Highway BB, about a mile north of town. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the collision occurred at 10:15 a.m. when a 1993 Ford F‑150 failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a northbound 2003 Toyota Camry. The impact sent both vehicles off the roadway, where they overturned.
Troopers say the 32‑year‑old Ford driver was ejected from the truck, while the 19‑year‑old Camry driver was partially ejected. Neither man was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Camry driver was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries. The Ford driver was transported by aircraft to Cox South, also with serious injuries.
