A West Plains man is facing multiple charges after police say he led officers on a dangerous drive and then fought with them during his arrest. According to a probable cause statement filed in Howell County, Sgt. Micah McKemie reported seeing Michael Doolittle driving at a high rate of speed, passing vehicles, entering oncoming traffic, and running multiple stop signs. Officers say Doolittle, who has a revoked license, later admitted he had “taken a shot” of liquor after they noticed the odor of alcohol on his breath.
When officers attempted to arrest him, Doolittle allegedly clenched his fist as if to strike, resisted on the ground, concealed his arm to avoid handcuffing, kicked at officers, and spit in Sgt. McKemie’s face. The statement notes officers sustained minor injuries during the struggle.
A search of Doolittle’s vehicle revealed eight empty alcohol shooters, and a breath test later showed a blood alcohol content of 0.193. He is charged with resisting/interfering with arrest, driving while revoked/suspended, and third‑degree assault. His bond is set at $50,000.
