A Douglas County man was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a two‑vehicle crash north of Ava. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened at 5 p.m. on Missouri 5, about four miles north of town.
Troopers say a southbound 2020 Harley‑Davidson attempted to pass a 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 on the left as the pickup was making a left turn. The motorcycle struck the side of the truck, causing extensive damage to the bike and moderate damage to the pickup.

The 46‑year‑old motorcycle rider from Ava was wearing a safety device and suffered serious injuries. He was flown by air ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
