A Thayer man is facing multiple charges after police say he brandished a pistol while yelling at neighbors during a late‑night disturbance. According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Oregon County Circuit Court, officers were called to a reported burglary in progress on September 6 around 9 p.m. after a resident claimed several people were outside his bedroom windows.
When Officer Kyle Shank arrived, he reported finding no one in the yard but noted a strong smell of marijuana. The resident, Richard L. Streetman, insisted several individuals were manipulating his blinds and installing cameras, but the officer wrote that none of the vegetation near the windows was disturbed and that Streetman appeared intoxicated and hallucinating.
Neighbors told police Streetman had repeatedly come outside yelling and, at one point, pulled a small pistol from a holster while shouting at them. Another neighbor said Streetman knocked on his door while armed and yelling, waking his children.
Streetman later admitted he (got mad) grabbed his pistol, and confronted the neighbors. Police recovered the firearm from his home and noted marijuana and paraphernalia near the front door. After being read his Miranda rights, Streetman told officers he had recently changed PTSD medication and was having issues.
He is charged with Unlawful use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action, his bond was set at $5,000.
