Graveside Services for Jackie Lee Owens, Age 75 of Rogersville, Missouri (formerly of Norwood, Missouri) will be held on Thursday, September 24th, 2026 in The Oak Grove Cemetery, Norwood, Missouri, beginning at 11:30 AM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at The Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.
Jackie Lee Owens, son of Charley Chester and Nora Myrtle (Mace) Owens, was born on December 2, 1950, and departed this life on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Throughout his working years, Jack held several different jobs, including working as a sanitation truck driver and diesel mechanic. Much of his life was spent cutting and selling firewood. Some of his sons’ fondest memories were of the time they spent with Jack and their grandpa, Charley, in the woods cutting firewood. Jack and his sons often enjoyed reminiscing about the practical jokes the boys would play on their grandpa Charley, creating memories they would laugh about for years to come. Jack also enjoyed fishing along a creek bank.
Known to some of his grandkids as Pa Jack, later in life he developed a love for collecting bear figurines which all started with one found at a garage sale with one of his granddaughters. He would often joke that he never imagined himself enjoying something like that, but, as he would say, “It was something to do.” At his last known count, his collection had grown to more than 800.
Jack is survived by his sons, Jason (Staci) Owens of Deepwater, MO, and Jessee (Amanda) Owens of Willard, MO; six grandchildren, Sarah (Marshall) Byers, Emma Owens, Jessee (McKenna) Owens, Jackson Owens, Atalie Owens, and Jacob Owens; and two great-grandchildren, Lilly Owens and Colsen Byers.
He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Owens of McLouth, KS; his sisters, Wanda Robinson of Glenmora, LA, and Sandra DeBoard of Rogersville, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Darlene Gardner and Sharon Marie Owens; and his brothers, Archie Owens, Bobby Owens, Wayne Owens, and Charley Cook.
Jack will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
