Missouri opens SEC play Saturday night with an undefeated record and a ranked matchup at Mississippi State. The 19th-ranked Tigers are 3-0 after beating Troy 27-17 last week, while the 24th-ranked Bulldogs are also 3-0 after rallying past South Carolina 41-34. It is Missouri’s first SEC game of the season and Mississippi State’s conference home opener at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Central on SEC Network.
Missouri will have to contend with a Mississippi State offense led by quarterback Kamario Taylor, who threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns in the comeback win over South Carolina. Taylor also brings a running threat that Missouri will have to account for. The Bulldogs have been productive offensively through three games, while their defense has shown improvement under coordinator Zach Arnett.
This is the first major test of the season for a Missouri team that opened with wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Kansas and Troy. The Tigers won last year’s meeting 49-27 in Columbia and 39-20 in Starkville in November of 2024. Mizzou leads the all-time series 4-2, but this one comes in Starkville against another undefeated team that has already picked up an SEC road win.
Missouri will be trying to start conference play 1-0 and carry its momentum into a much more demanding portion of the schedule.
