A Wright County man was arrested after deputies say he made violent threats toward another individual. According to a probable cause statement filed in Wright County, Deputy Trenton Kastning responded to a residence around 12:50 a.m. after reports that James Holland Hiller was intoxicated, acting erratically and threatening to harm the victim.
The reporting party told deputies Hiller had become jealous and began making threats, including saying he would “dot his eyes,” a phrase the deputy noted he understood from military experience to mean shooting someone in the eyes. The statement also notes Hiller had recently acquired a rifle. “Hiller began threatening V1’s life,” the report states.
Deputies placed Hiller under arrest for first‑degree stalking. While in custody, Hiller claimed he was experiencing chest pains and became briefly unresponsive, prompting EMS to evaluate him. According to the report, EMS determined he was “perfectly healthy,” and Hiller became alert and talkative once inside the ambulance.
Deputies later collected a written statement from the reporting party and a verbal statement from the victim, who told Kastning he interpreted the threats as death threats. Hiller was transported to the Wright County Jail and booked. Deputies attempted to obtain a breath test due to suspected intoxication, but Hiller refused to cooperate.
His bond is set at $5000.
