Funeral Services for Charlie George Wilson, Age 78 of Texas County, Missouri will be held on Thursday, October 1st, 2026 at The Evans Funeral Home, Houston, Missouri, beginning at 11:00 AM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in The Missouri Veterans Cemetery- Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to donate to your local food pantry.
Charlie George Wilson, age 78, son of Clyde and Wilhelmine (Kohler) Wilson, was born July 15, 1948, in Frankfurt, Germany. He passed away on September 22, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sister, Wilma (Tim) Crawford of Plato, MO; niece, Christina (Larry) Potts of Houston, MO; great nephews, Nickolei Wilson-Potts of Houston, MO and Joshua (Katie) Wilson-Moscicki of Springfield, MO; great niece, Michelle Potts of Licking, MO; two great-great nieces, Rylee and Catherine Parker of Licking, MO; and honorary niece, Melissa (Kyle) Ross of Roby, MO.
Charlie graduated from Casa Grande Union High School in 1968. Two weeks after graduation he entered the U.S. Army until 1980. He spent the next six years in the Army Reserves. He received numerous awards and commendations. Later he started working for the Department of the Interior at the USGS in Rolla, MO, where he retired in 2004 after 34 years of government service. He was awarded the third highest award given to DOI employees.
Charlie loved gardening and watching wildlife and could often be seen taking photos. On Sundays, when his niece was little, you could catch them playing with his beloved N-scale trains or building models to use in the layouts. He also loved woodworking. He built an entire bedroom set before graduating and could be found tinkering on numerous projects.
Charlie most of all loved his family. He helped raise his sister and took care of his mother after their dad passed. Later, he raised nis niece, Christina, as his own daughter. He would spoil all his nieces and nephews and would do anything for his family. He loved to tell stories of his career, his family, or any wildlife he saw. He also spoiled his cat of 20 years, Dirtnose.
Charlie was a wonderful brother, uncle, father figure, and friend. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
