Multiple Fires Break Out Across Listening Area

As drought conditions continue to worsen, fire dangers continue to increase, which lead to a breakout of fires across the listening area. According to recent reports, several locations across the listening area experienced breakouts of fires, with erratic wind making the trouble worsen.

Even with rain expected in the area tonight, drought conditions are not expected to notably decrease, and many burn bans will likely remain in place until said conditions improve.

Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department – Incident Update

On 09/30/26, the Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a large wildland fire in the 137/B junction area within our department’s response area.

While evaluating the size of the fire, weather conditions, and threat to surrounding property, Raymondville VFD requested mutual aid to ensure that sufficient personnel, equipment, and water were available. Requesting additional resources early was a proactive decision intended to contain the fire as safely and efficiently as possible while limiting the loss of property.

The fire affected approximately 500 acres. Despite the size and intensity of the fire, we are grateful to report that no structures were lost and damage to personal property was minimal.
