Mizzou – Texas A&M preview

Mizzou is back home Saturday for a key SEC matchup with Texas A&M. The 14th-ranked Tigers are 4-1 after last week’s 45-17 rout of then-eighth-ranked Florida, while the Aggies are 3-2 and coming off a 34-7 win over Arkansas. Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed is the player Mizzou has to account for. Reed struggled during back-to-back losses to Kentucky and LSU, but he ran for 66 yards and a touchdown while throwing for 170 yards in last week’s win. He also hurt Mizzou last year, throwing for 170 yards and running for 108 in Texas A&M’s 38-17 win in Columbia.

Mizzou quarterback Austin Simmons is coming off his best game of the season, throwing for 340 yards and two touchdowns against Florida, while running back Jamal Roberts rushed for 211 yards and three scores. The Tigers are trying to build on that performance and avoid a letdown against an Aggies team that appears to have found some momentum.

The game kicks off Saturday at 11 a.m. at Memorial Stadium in Columbia and will be televised by ABC.

Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz says freshman Johnnie Jones remains hospitalized in Florida after team doctors discovered a medical issue over the summer. After about two weeks of observation in Columbia, Jones was sent to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville for further testing, where doctors discovered a more significant issue.
