Eminence, MO. – The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office made an announcement this morning about a school shooting threat that took place at the Eminence High School. The announcement can be read below, unedited.
We want to make our families and community aware of a situation that occurred at Eminence High School this morning, prior to the start of our school day.
In response to a credible threat, Eminence High School was placed in Hard Lockdown. Out of an abundence of caution, Eminence Elementary was also placed in a Soft Lockdown as an additional safety measure.
Thanks to the swift and appropriate response of our staff and local law enforcement, the situation has been addressed, and there is no longer a threat on or to campus.
Students have been debriefed on the situation and have returned to their classrooms, with normal school activities resuming.
I want to personally thank staff and local law enforcement for their quick, professional response and their commitment to keeping our students and staff safe.
We understand that situations like this may raise questions or concerns for our families. Please know that the safety and well-being of our students and staff will always remain my highest priority.
If you have any questions or concerns, I encourage you to reach out to me directly at 573-226-3252 or via email at stephanie.barbagiovanni@redwingsk12.org.
