Today’s Featured Pet of the Day is the beautiful Chica!
Chica is currently being cared for at the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, and they sent over a special message straight from Chica herself:
“Hello, I’m Chica! I’m a 2-year-old, 51lb Boxer mix with a smile that lights up any room. I’m a little shy at first, but once I warm up to you, we’ll be best friends. I might not come to you right away for pets, but once you start, I won’t want you to stop! I’m a sweet girl who’s gotten along with everyone I’ve met so far — including kids of all ages — and I’m friendly with other dogs too!
When I first arrived at the shelter as a stray, I tested positive for heartworms. But the good news is… I just finished my heartworm treatment and feel better than ever! I do still need to take it easy with short walks for now, but I can’t wait to enjoy life with a loving human by my side. I’m leash-trained and doing great with house training!
Because of my heartworm history, I’m considered a medical adoption — but don’t worry! The shelter’s vet staff will explain everything you need to know to keep me healthy and happy.
I promise to be your loyal companion, always by your side through life’s ups and downs. I’m ready to find my forever home and share all the love I have to give. My adoption fee is $200, and that includes my vaccines, spay surgery, and microchips. I can’t wait to meet you!”
