15 Bears Harvested During MDC’s 4th Bear Hunting Season

The Missouri Department of Conservation(MDC) reported yesterday that 15 bears were hunted during the organization’s 2024 hunting season.

Taking place October 21st through the 30th, this bear hunting season saw 5,969 applications from hunters, with only 400 being selected. Of those 400, only 40 could be redeemed.

The locations for hunting were designated to specific Bear Management Zones(BMZ). BMZ 1 was the most active, seeing 12 of the 15 bears harvested there. The remaining 3 were claimed in BMZ 2.

While it may be surprising, only 13 of the harvested bears were taken with firearms. 1 was taken via crossbow, and the other through archery.
