20-Year-Old West Plains Driver Crashes, Receives DWI Charge

West Plains, MO. – A West Plains driver has crashed and received not only injuries, but a DWI charge after events early in the morning of August 6th.

Gabreal Cotter, 20 of West Plains, was the driver in this incident. He was operating a Chevy Impala while travelling Northbound on County Road 5490, roughly 9 miles Northwest of West Plains.

Cotter was driving while intoxicated and ran off the roadway at roughly 1:20am, causing him to strike a tree. The Impala was totaled in the accident, and Cotter was not wearing a safety device and received minor injuries. However, due to the conditions of the crash, Cotter has additionally received a misdemeanor DWI charge. He was taken to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment.

The investigator on this accident was Trooper K.L. Hogan of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G.
