WILLOW SPRINGS, Mo. — The 2020 Willow Open Chess Tournament will be held January 18 at the Willow Springs High School Bears Den, 215 W 4th St.
Registration begins at 9 am, with the first round of play starting at 9:30 am. There will be 5-6 rounds of play, depending on turnout. Awards will be given out around 3 pm.
The tournament is open to any and all school-aged children, and has several divisions including high school, junior high, middle school, elementary school, and adult.
The entry fee is $7 per player, with a max of $70 per school. Concessions will be available. Player are encouraged to bring their own sets, if possible.
Organizers say if school is closed due to inclement weather on Friday, January 17, the tournament will be moved to January 25.
