The final day of the 2025 Harlin Museum’s Quilt and Fiber Arts Show will be Saturday, February 8. The museum is open Thursday through Sunday, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
While inclement weather kept some participants from entering, the show featured a wonderful display of creations from those who braved the elements. The show included two categories: Quilts/Quilting and Thread/Yarn Crafts.
Prizes for the event were generously sponsored by: Calico Cabin Quilter’s Sew-ciety, Carol A. Young Quilting, Croney’s Old Homestead Fabrics, Gladys Morris, Harlin Museum Board of Directors, Mary’s Little Lambs Products, and Ozark Nightly Rentals. Winners were selected by an independent judge prior to the placement of name placards to ensure unbiased results.
Best of Show went to Monica Sharp for her queen-size quilt, Ozark Labyrinth. This stunning piece features neutral tones of tan and brown, with an eight-pointed star medallion surrounded by two interwoven square borders. Each border is individually machine-embroidered with its own unique design, making it a remarkable visual achievement.
In the Thread/Yarn Crafts category, two artists claimed top honors. Janice Moss took first place for her beautifully embroidered and appliquéd Dragonfly Pillow. Cathie McClellan earned second and third place for her woven masterpieces, The Darkside and Intersections, respectively. The Darkside also won the “Mary’s Little Lambs” gift bag, containing homespun and dyed yarn.
In the Quilts/Quilting category, Janna Myracle’s vibrant red, white, and blue Log Cabin quilt won first place, while her Dash-Dash wall hanging claimed second. Remarkably, these were Janna’s first quilts! Second place also went to Monica Sharp for her quilt Library Cats.
The show will conclude with an Artist Reception on Saturday, February 8, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. During the reception, ribbons will be on display with the quilts. Prize money and gift bags will be awarded by Cleo Cockrum, president of the Harlin Museum Board of Directors, at 3:30 PM. Following the awards, the entries will be released, and the museum will close at 4:00 PM. Additionally, the People’s Choice winner will be announced, with a ribbon and a gift basket donated by Croney’s Old Homestead Fabrics. For those unable to pick up their quilts on Saturday, they may do so during normal museum hours next week (Thursday through Sunday, 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM).
