26-Year-Old Jail System To Be Upgraded in Ozark County (Update)

Ozark County, MO. – Comsec Consulting presented the one and only bid for retrofitting the Ozark County Jail, including work on the jail board, wiring, doors, cameras, and other things.

Reportedly, the new system in the Ozark County Jail will be as up-to-date as many prisons and military forces use in the US. In addition to the much-needed upgrades of the jail, the deal included the add-on bonus of 10 working body cameras for officers to use, which is almost a necessity in modern law enforcement.

A 26-year-old jail system is in serious need of upgrades, and the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office has aimed at the American Rescue Plan Act, or ARPA, to help pay for a much needed upgrade. Ozark Radio News spoke to Curtis Ledbetter, an officer at the Sheriff’s Office, about the issue with their aging system.

The camera system to be replaced at the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office

“…Our cameras, security, access control(s), inmate intercom system.. all of this was installed in 96… so there’re a lot of failures in it. A lot of our board isn’t functioning, some of the doors we have to manually go in and open…” Officer Ledbetter stated.

As such, they are currently taking estimates to update and fix the jail.
