Mountain View, MO. – State Representative for the 154th District of Missouri, David Evans, visited with the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce on the evening of Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
Following the signing of redistricting bill, HB 2909, the city limits of Mountain View were placed in the 154th District. The north east corner of Howell County now belongs to the 153rd District of the State of Missouri, under State Rep. Darrell Atchison of Williamsville.
During his visit, Rep. Evans spoke about the spring session in the Missouri Legislature. Bills that Evans was proud to have helped pass were the ‘No Patient Left Alone’ Act, a one-time tax credit, and the Sexual Assault Victim Bill of Rights, to name a few.
When the topic of discussion turned to schools, Rep. Evans spoke about the passage of Governor Mike Parson’s Teacher Raise bill. While the bill gives schools the option of joining the project, funding and operation of the bill may only last for one year, depending on how the next legislative session votes. To help with teacher pay, a stair-step pay bill was passed this session that will allow teachers to do extra projects in return for extra pay.
