West Plains, MO. – Two people were injured when an intoxicated driver crashed her vehicle near Goodhope in Douglas County on Wednesday morning. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred seven miles north of Goodhope on State Route O at 10:10 a.m.
A northbound Chevy Malibu driven by Amber Barnett, age 39 of Ava, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree, totaling the vehicle.
Barnett was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered moderate injuries in the crash. Her passenger, 32-year-old Justin Revere of Ava, had a seatbelt on during the crash and suffered minor injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to separate hospitals in Springfield.
Barnett was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and has been released, according to the arrest report.
The above charges are mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
