Box and Deputy Evans on May 23, 2026, for Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st degree, Property Damage 1st degree, and Resisting, Interfering with a Felony Arrest. A warrant was later obtained, and due to York’s extensive criminal history for similar offenses, no bond was set in this case.

The arrest came after the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about York being under the influence of a substance and damaging the property at a residence with two small children in the residence.

Sgt Box, along with Deputies J. Pueppke and S. Evans, responded to the residence, upon arrival they observed the storm door broken, broken glass everywhere, and several plants on the porch where knocked over.

Upon knocking, the suspect, Colt York, came to the door and began walking away when he saw the deputies. The homeowner opened the door, and deputies located York in the kitchen, where they gave him verbal commands to stop and get on the ground. York did not comply with the directives and was assisted to the ground and placed in handcuffs.
York has an extensive history with numerous arrests for endangering the welfare of children and resisting arrest.
