Eminence, MO. – Yesterday, the Eminence School system stated that they will likely be increasing security around the school campus following events this week. Their message can be read below.
Dear Redwings Families and Community,
We want to make our families aware of a safety-related incident that occurred on campus today.
District administration was notified that a student had a loaded handgun in their vehicle on school property. The student shared this information with a staff member, who immediately reported it to administration. Law enforcement was notified and responded promptly. The student is currently in law enforcement custody.
At no time during today’s incident was there an active threat to our students or staff.
We recognize the concern these events may cause, particularly following yesterday’s incident. At this time, we do not know whether the two incidents are connected.
Out of an abundance of caution, we have increased law enforcement presence on campuses and implemented additional adult supervision in hallways and during student movement.
A letter with additional information is being sent home to all district families today. We encourage you to review this communication.
The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We appreciate the prompt communication of our staff, the response of law enforcement, and the continued support of our Redwings community.
