6th Recent Death at South Central Correctional Center,

Licking, MO. – A sixth prisoner has died within the last month at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking, Missouri. 

The deceased was offender Robert Baker, age 29 of Marmaduke, Arkansas, had served just over one year of a 6-year sentence for first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle in Montgomery County in eastern Missouri. Baker was found deceased at the prison on Sunday, September 25 at 5:59 a.m.

The Missouri Department of Corrections stated in a press release that an autopsy will be conducted. Baker is the third inmate that was pronounced deceased inside the prison within the last month, the other three inmates passed away while at nearby hospitals. While it is not uncommon that older prisoners do die of natural causes, Baker makes the second inmate under the age of 30 within this short span of time.
