Event raises over $8,000 for OMC Cancer Treatment Center patients and the Boys and Girls Club of Thayer
Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater West Plains co-hosted the Fourth Annual Dice Run of the Mills on Saturday, June 20. A total of 98 motorcycles and 22 vehicles participated in the fundraiser that was planned with social distance precautions and cleaning protocols in place. The event raised over $8,000, which will be split between the two causes.
The event was sponsored by Mega Motorsports, Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply, West Plains Daily Quill, Bartlett Moving and Storage, Classic Rock Q-94, KHOM The Train 100.9, Outpost Motorsports, Simmons Bank, Steak and Shake of West Plains, Thayer Gas, Legacy Auto Body, Don’s Auto Service, West Plains Lock and Key, Bootleggers BBQ, Cattlemens Steakhouse, Country Cottage Café, Roy’s Store, Shorty’s Rib Shack, West Plains Chamber of Commerce, The Buzz, Pizza Hut, Mr. Dent, Shelter Insurance-Roger Foley, Hood Performance, American Built Machinery, and Cover Lumber.
The event kicked off at OMC Parkway Center in West Plains and included Dice Roll Stops at Dawt Mill, The Antler in Gainesville, Rockbridge Rainbow Trout and Game Ranch, Hodgson Mill, and Twin Bridges Canoe and Campground. The final roll stop was at OMC Parkway Center. A party was not held at the end of the ride this year due to COVID-19.
Five dice were rolled at six stops during the event. The highest total dice roll score award went to Chris Haddock of West Plains with a score of 130. Chris won a Dice Run trophy and $100. The person who had the lowest total dice roll score award went to Donna Mattera of Willow Springs with a roll of 80. She received a Dice Run trophy and $25.
Tedd Hoverson of Key West, Florida won the award for the farthest traveled to participate. He received a Dice Run trophy and $25. The oldest motorcycle rider or passenger went to Julie Leatherwood, age 86, of West Plains. She received a Dice Run trophy and $25.
Winners at the roll stops were Dalton Acosta with the highest roll of 27 at Dawt Mill. He won a $25 West Plains Chamber Bucks Gift Certificate. Scott Williams was the lowest roll at The Antler with an 8. He won a $25 gift certificate from the Cattlemens Steakhouse. Shannon Hedrick was the highest roll at Rockbridge with a roll of 29. She won a $25 Gift Certificate to Bootleggers BBQ. Dean Saunders was the lowest roll at Hodgson Mill with a roll of 9. He won a $25 Gift Certificate to Roy’s Store. Andy Tripp was the winner of the highest roll at Twin Bridges with a 25. She won a $25 Gift Certificate Twin Bridges Bar and Grill. Philip Wilson was the winner of the lowest roll at OMC Parkway with a roll of 9. He won a $25 West Plains Chamber Bucks Gift Certificate.
Patrick Moffis won the 50/50 Drawing and $238.
This year’s event required more volunteers at registration and each roll stop to allow for social distancing and disinfecting surfaces in between participants.
