Salem, AR – An accidental gunshot near Nine Mile Ridge has sent one Arkansas woman to the hospital. The event occurred on July 20, 2021.
A 33-year old woman was sitting outside in a chair with a loaded .22 semi-auto pistol in her lap. When she stood up, the pistol began to fall. The woman grabbed at the gun as it fell, causing the gun to fire. The bullet hit her upper thigh and passed completely through. The victim was flown by air ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The incident is still under investigation by Investigator Dale Weaver and Sergeant William Fawcett of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
