Houston, MO— After 40 years of caring for patients at Texas County Memorial Hospital (TCMH), Kim Jordan, registered nurse in the hospital’s surgery department, recently found herself on the receiving end of the care, compassion, and kindness she has shared with others throughout her career.
During her hospitalization and continued recovery at home, Jordan experienced firsthand the dedication of the TCMH physicians and staff who work each day to care for patients and their families.
Following her experience, Jordan wanted to express her heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals who played a role in her care, as well as her surgery department coworkers who stepped in to support her during her recovery.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the kindness, compassion, patience, great care, all the prayers and visits during my time in the hospital and as I continued to recover at home,” Jordan shared. “Every smile and kind, reassuring word helped make such a difficult time a little easier.”
Jordan extended special appreciation to Kristina Grant, family medicine and obstetrics; Sherry Phippen, general surgeon; Amanda Lemp, family medicine and obstetrics; and Paul Schaefer, emergency room physician, for working together to provide her care.
“Thank you for working together and taking care of me the best way possible,” Jordan said. “So much appreciated.”
She also recognized the many TCMH departments and employees who contributed to her care, including registration, the emergency Department, laboratory, radiology, cardiopulmonary, dietary, pharmacy, housekeeping, and the medical-surgical staff.
“I appreciate each one of you!” Jordan expressed.
For someone who has spent four decades caring for patients, receiving that same compassion from her colleagues was especially meaningful.
Jordan also had a special message for her surgery department coworkers, who continued to manage their busy schedules while covering for her during her two-week absence.
“To my awesome surgery crew, thank you for covering for me during a busy two weeks without hesitation,” Jordan said. “You all are the BEST!”
Her appreciation reflects the teamwork and commitment that are such an important part of caring for patients, and of caring for one another when a staff member needs support of their own.
After 40 years at TCMH, Jordan said her experience reinforced the pride she feels in being part of the hospital and its mission to care for patients with dedication and compassion.
“I am proud to be a part of a great hospital that shows dedication and compassion when caring for their patients,” Jordan shared.
Jordan’s message is a heartfelt reminder that the compassion shown to patients extends beyond their hospital stay. It is also found in prayers, encouragement, kindness and support shared among coworkers.
TCMH is grateful for Kim’s 40 years of dedicated service, her commitment to patients and the countless lives she has touched throughout her career. And now, as Kim continues her recovery, her TCMH family is grateful for the opportunity to give back some of the same kindness and compassion she has so generously given to others over the years.
